We acknowledge the spiritual and cultural custodians of Whadjuk Nyungar Boodjar, on whose land our office resides within proximity to Walyalup. Furthermore, we acknowledge the traditional custodians of all lands throughout Australia, and the Indigenous peoples beyond our shores. We pay our respects to the Elders, past, present, and emerging, for they hold the culture, stories, and dreams of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We recognise and respect the wisdom of the Ancestors and Elders, their ways of knowing and doing, and their continued relationship with their land and waterways. We also recognise the importance of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people, who are our future and our hope. Finally, we acknowledge and respect all non-Indigenous Australians who share our vision for a fuller expression of Australia's nationhood as we empower our First Peoples.

20 by 2020 ~ Strive to 25 by 2025
In December 2016, Director Frank Mitchell, made a pledge to create 20 electrical apprenticeships by the end of 2020 for Aboriginal & Torres Straight Islander men and women.
"The opportunity presented itself because someone recognised the potential in me and was willing to give me a chance. I didn’t understand the word ‘reciprocity’ until later, but I understood that with opportunity comes responsibility. I wanted to make that same difference to others who needed a hand up."
Frank Mitchell joined Tim Bidstrup to become first-time business owners in 2015. At the time, we had nine employees and they were excited by the prospect of not only being managers, but leaders as well. Frank recognised that his acceleration from apprentice, to electrician, to project manager, to Director, to co-owner, had all started with something that was beyond his control.
Here we are, four years later. Although we created 12 x electrical apprenticeships, we created 22 positions in total due to the evolution of Wilco.
These included 4 traineeships in Construction, 3 in Administration, and 3 Trade Assistant positions. Out of all 22 positions only the Trade Assistant positions were casual.
We have not rested following our success of the 20 by 2020 initiative. Our commitment to creating Aboriginal apprenticeships continues with our Strive to 25 initiative, where we have committed to creating a further 25 positions for Aboriginal people by the end of 2025.
We thank our extended work team who have been absolutely magnificent in being supervisors, trainers and mentors to all the Aboriginal men and women on this journey.
Importantly, we would not have been able to achieve this journey without the support of our clients! Giving us an opportunity and standing beside us as we strived to grow a culture of corporate social responsibility.

WILCO CELEBRATES 20 YEARS DEADLY
To mark 20 years of Wilco Electrical, we wanted to do something meaningful. Not just to celebrate where we’ve been, but to honour the Country we’ve built on, the people who have shaped our journey, and the connections that continue to guide us forward.
We were proud to commission Noongar, Wardandi artist ~ Kehaan Lange-McGuire to create a bespoke artwork that reflects these values.
This piece draws from Whadjuk boodja, with the Derbarl Yerrigan (Swan River) at its centre. It is a powerful symbol of connection, flow, and continuity while also reflecting Kambarang, the Noongar season of birth, renewal, and wildflowers.
There is something particularly special in this alignment as Wilco Electrical began during Kambarang! The season that represents new beginnings, growth, and possibility. The same themes that have defined our journey over the past two decades.
The artwork tells a deeper story:
• The flowing waterways represent connection to Country
• The gathering symbols reflect people coming together in unity
• The circles represent the strong, enduring relationships we’ve built
At its heart, this piece is about more than our history. It’s about respect for culture, for community, and for the land we operate on.
We thank Kehaan for sharing his story, his talent, and his perspective with us. This artwork will remain a lasting reminder of who we are, where we’ve come from, and the responsibility we carry moving forward.
